Ingredients
For the Shrimp
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ¾ cup cornstarch
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Cooking spray
For the Bang Bang Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
- 1–2 tbsp sriracha or hot sauce
- 1 tbsp honey (optional)
Optional Garnish
- Green onions
- Sesame seeds
- Lettuce
- Lime wedges
Instructions
1. Prepare the Shrimp
- Pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
- Place shrimp in buttermilk for 10–15 minutes.
2. Make the Coating
- In a bowl, mix cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Remove shrimp from buttermilk and coat evenly in the cornstarch mixture.
3. Air Fry
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Lightly spray basket with cooking spray.
- Arrange shrimp in a single layer.
- Spray tops lightly with cooking spray.
- Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden.
4. Make the Sauce
Mix mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey in a bowl until smooth.
5. Toss and Serve
- Toss cooked shrimp gently in bang bang sauce.
- Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds.
- Serve immediately.
Tips
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for maximum crispiness.
- Pat shrimp dry before coating to help the crust stick better.
- Add more sriracha if you prefer extra heat.
- Serve the sauce on the side if you want the shrimp to stay extra crispy.
- Frozen shrimp should be fully thawed and dried before cooking.
