Ingredients

For the Spritz

  • 1 cup chilled blue sports drink or blue fruit drink
  • 1 cup chilled lemon-lime soda or sparkling lemon water
  • ½ cup chilled pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup or honey (optional, to taste)
  • 1 cup ice cubes

For Garnish

  • Lemon slices
  • Pineapple wedges
  • Fresh mint sprigs
  • Maraschino cherries (optional)
  • Edible blue sugar (optional)
  • Fresh blueberries (optional)

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or large measuring jug
  • Tall serving glasses
  • Long spoon
  • Measuring cups
  • Citrus juicer

Instructions

Step 1: Chill the Ingredients

For the most refreshing drink, refrigerate all ingredients for at least 2 hours before making the spritz. Cold ingredients help maintain the fizz and reduce the need for excess ice.

Step 2: Prepare the Glasses

Fill two tall glasses about three-quarters full with ice cubes.

If desired, moisten the rims of the glasses with a lemon wedge and dip them into edible blue sugar for a decorative finish.

Step 3: Mix the Base

In a cocktail shaker or large jug, combine:

  • Blue sports drink or blue fruit drink
  • Pineapple juice
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Simple syrup (if using)

Stir gently until well combined.

Step 4: Add the Sparkle

Slowly pour the lemon-lime soda or sparkling lemon water into the mixture. Stir gently with a long spoon to preserve the carbonation.

Step 5: Assemble the Drinks

Divide the mixture evenly between the prepared glasses.

Top with a little extra sparkling soda if desired for additional fizz.

Step 6: Garnish

Decorate each glass with:

  • A lemon slice on the rim
  • A pineapple wedge
  • A sprig of fresh mint
  • A few blueberries
  • A maraschino cherry for a pop of color, if desired

For an extra ocean-inspired touch, sprinkle a pinch of edible blue sugar over the top just before serving.

Step 7: Serve

Serve immediately while the drink is cold and bubbly. Stir gently before sipping to blend the flavors.

Serving Suggestions

This colorful spritz pairs perfectly with:

  • Fish tacos
  • Grilled shrimp skewers
  • Tropical fruit salad
  • Coconut macaroons
  • Vanilla cupcakes
  • Shortbread cookies
  • Beach-themed snack boards
  • Mini sandwiches

Storage

This drink is best enjoyed immediately after preparation.

If making ahead, mix the blue drink, pineapple juice, and lemon juice and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Add the sparkling soda only just before serving to keep the drink fizzy.

Tips for the Best Under-the-Sea Spritz

  • Use well-chilled ingredients for the most refreshing taste.
  • Add the sparkling soda last to preserve its bubbles.
  • Fresh lemon juice provides a brighter flavor than bottled juice.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup, depending on the sweetness of your blue drink.
  • Freeze blueberries or pineapple chunks and use them instead of some of the ice cubes to keep the drink cold without diluting it.
  • For a layered “ocean” effect, slowly pour the sparkling soda over the back of a spoon after adding the blue mixture.

Recipe Notes

  • For a tropical twist, substitute half of the pineapple juice with coconut water.
  • Club soda or sparkling water can replace lemon-lime soda for a less sweet version.
  • Add a splash of lime juice for extra citrus brightness.
  • This mocktail is naturally alcohol-free, making it an excellent choice for family gatherings, children’s parties, and anyone looking for a refreshing, ocean-inspired beverage.
