Ingredients

For the fish

  • 4 tilapia fillets
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Optional garnish

  • Lemon wedges
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro
  • Extra olive oil drizzle

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade
In a small bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  2. Season the fish
Pat tilapia fillets dry and brush both sides with the seasoning mixture.
  3. Preheat the grill
Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates.
  4. Grill the tilapia
Place fillets on the grill and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until fish flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Serve
Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with lemon wedges and fresh herbs.

Tips

  • Use a fish basket or foil if the fillets are very delicate.
  • Do not overcook — tilapia cooks quickly and can dry out.
  • Marinate briefly (15–20 minutes) for more flavor without breaking down the fish.
  • Add smoky flavor with a charcoal grill or smoked paprika.
  • Try different seasonings like Cajun spice or Italian herbs.
  • Fresh lemon juice brightens the flavor right before serving.
