Ingredients

  • 2–3 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2–3 tbsp chili powder (or rehydrated dried chiles)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ¼ cup peanut butter or ground nuts
  • 1–2 squares dark chocolate
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • Salt to taste

Steps

  1. Sauté onion and garlic in oil until soft.
  2. Add spices and chili powder; cook briefly to release aroma.
  3. Stir in peanut butter and chocolate.
  4. Pour in broth and simmer until thick and smooth.
  5. Blend (optional for smoothness).
  6. Add chicken and simmer 10–15 minutes.

  • Over chicken (bone-in or shredded)
  • With rice and warm tortillas
  • Topped with sesame seeds
