Ingredients
For the Cream Filling
- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese

Instructions
1. Prepare the Coffee
Brew strong espresso or coffee and let it cool completely. Stir in coffee liqueur if using.
2. Make the Egg Mixture
In a heatproof bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar together. Place over simmering water and whisk for 5–7 minutes until thick and pale. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
3. Add Mascarpone
Fold mascarpone cheese into the egg mixture until smooth.
4. Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
5. Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for 1–2 seconds. Do not soak fully.
6. Layer
Arrange dipped ladyfingers in a dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over them. Repeat with another layer.
7. Chill
Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
8. Finish
Dust generously with cocoa powder before serving. Add chocolate shavings if desired.
