Tips for Best Results

Stir Occasionally

Orzo can stick to the bottom of the pan if left untouched.

Adjust Consistency

  • Too thick → add a splash of broth
  • Too thin → simmer uncovered a few extra minutes

Balance Sweetness

Classic sloppy joe flavor has a sweet-savory balance:

  • Sweeter → add extra brown sugar
  • Tangier → add more mustard or Worcestershire

Cheese Choices

Cheddar works best, but Monterey Jack or mozzarella also melt nicely.

Variations

Spicy Version

Add hot sauce, cayenne, or diced jalapeños.

Extra Veggies

Mix in spinach, zucchini, or diced carrots.

Turkey Version

Swap ground beef for ground turkey.

Cheeseburger Style

Add pickles and extra cheddar for a cheeseburger-inspired twist.
