Ingredients
For the fish
- 4 tilapia fillets
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Optional garnish
- Lemon wedges
- Fresh parsley or cilantro
- Extra olive oil drizzle
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade
In a small bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Season the fish
Pat tilapia fillets dry and brush both sides with the seasoning mixture.
- Preheat the grill
Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates.
- Grill the tilapia
Place fillets on the grill and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until fish flakes easily with a fork.
- Serve
Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with lemon wedges and fresh herbs.
Tips
- Use a fish basket or foil if the fillets are very delicate.
- Do not overcook — tilapia cooks quickly and can dry out.
- Marinate briefly (15–20 minutes) for more flavor without breaking down the fish.
- Add smoky flavor with a charcoal grill or smoked paprika.
- Try different seasonings like Cajun spice or Italian herbs.
- Fresh lemon juice brightens the flavor right before serving.
